  • Involves limited data processing by Cloudflare, a third-party provider
  • May involve a limited data transfer to servers located outside of Canada

With whom we share personal data

We may disclose user data to any member of our organization who reasonably needs access to user data to achieve the purposes stated in this Privacy Policy.

We will not sell or share your data with any third party, except in the following cases:

  1. If required by law

Payment Processing

For paid services, we use Stripe as our payment processor. When you make a purchase:

  • Your payment information is processed directly by Stripe and is not stored on our servers
  • We receive and store only transaction identifiers and receipt URLs
  • Stripe may process your data according to their own privacy policy

How long we store personal data

User data will not be kept longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.

Generally, we retain your personal data as long as your account remains active or as necessary to provide you with our services. We will also retain your personal data for the period necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

We will ensure to notify you if your data is kept for a longer period than initially anticipated.

How we protect your personal data

To protect your security, we use the strongest encryption available in browsers and store all our data on servers in secure facilities. All data is only accessible to our employees. Our employees are bound by strict confidentiality agreements, and a breach of this agreement would result in termination of the employee's contract.

All data is anonymized to the extent possible to minimize risks in the event of a data breach.

While we take all reasonable precautions to ensure that our user data is secure and that users are protected, there always remains some risk of harm. The Internet as a whole can be, at times, insecure, and therefore we are unable to guarantee the security of user data beyond what is reasonably practical.

Use of aggregated and anonymized data

To improve our services and develop a better understanding of the real estate market, dwellup uses aggregated and anonymized data. This section explains our approach:

Anonymization process

We transform personal data into anonymous data through a rigorous process that:

  • Removes all direct identifiers (names, email addresses, etc.)
  • Modifies or removes information that could indirectly identify you
  • Aggregates data at a level that does not allow individual identification
  • Applies advanced techniques to prevent re-identification

Uses of anonymized data

Anonymized and aggregated data allow us to:

  1. Analyze real estate market trends: Understand the evolution of prices, demand, and preferences by neighborhood or region.
  2. Improve our search algorithms: Refine our systems to present you with more relevant results.
  3. Develop new features: Identify user needs to create more useful tools.
  4. Produce sector analyses: Generate statistics on the housing market that can benefit all users.
  5. Measure the effectiveness of our platform: Understand how users interact with our service.

Privacy protection

Even with anonymized data:

  • We maintain high security standards for all data.
  • We never use this data in a way that could disadvantage you or target you individually.
  • We ensure that the analyses produced from this data do not allow the re-identification of users.

Limited sharing

If we share aggregated data with selected partners, we:

  • Only share information at a highly aggregated level.
  • Impose strict contractual restrictions on the use of this data.
  • Never include information that could be used to identify a particular user.
  • Rigorously evaluate all potential partners before any sharing.

The insights generated from this anonymized data help us improve the housing search experience for all users, while strictly respecting your privacy.
